As the lockdown in Mexico City intensifies, a group of Mexican and Japanese friends find themselves mysteriously entangled in the hi/story of the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán valley that hosts the world's biggest cactus forest. This hostile, «thorny», almost forbidden zone reveals itself as a worldwide theater for illegal plant trafficking as well as various spiritual experiments.
Nighttime, dream and death slowly wrap the protagonists into a spiral of transformations through which they connect beyond their isolation. A meditation upon the globalized exploitation of natural resources, the new curses it brings about, and the longing and wondering of a new generation for possible counter-narratives and re-appropriations.
